Sit Silently and Meditate for Peace

So I’ve been really embracing the idea of taking a moment during the day and spending 10 minutes in silence. For me it’s been about taking a moment to listen and connect to that inner voice waiting to enlighten me and reveal what my purpose is. Sometimes trying to listen to my intuition is like standing in the median of the freeway, and other times it is like standing in a pitch-black room listening to the inner vibe that lulls me into becoming silent.

Sometimes I’m successful at learning what I must do in order to overcome or move from a difficult situation or problem and sometimes I can’t see the forest through the trees. Either way, I’ve got to remember that it is okay. It’s okay to close my eyes for 10 minutes and focus on my purpose or spend that time falling asleep.

It isn’t about guilt or judgment. It isn’t about giving up because my mind wonders off to what I have to do, what I need to get at the grocery store, or what bills I have to pay this week. Sometimes those come to mind because those are things I must learn to dismiss from my crowded mind in order to become still and know my source. In order to find my purpose, sometimes I have to wade through the purpose-less muck of the day.

When I first started meditating or sitting in silence, I would find myself struggling to silence my mind. I would force my eyes closed so tight, that I would see spots. Sometimes I would have to say positive affirmations out loud so I could keep the negative thoughts from flooding my mind. Sometimes the ruckus of life outside my door would be my excuse not to, “become still and know.”

But in time I’ve come to understand that when I actually find the 10 minutes to meditate or go within all I am doing is bringing my consciousness back to its natural state. Peace, Harmony, Joy, Abundance, and Love are all states of consciousness that we are innately attuned to. That is why when we are living in anything different than Love, Happiness, Peace, Freedom, Joy, and (any other state of mind that brings you to center) we manifest disease, disharmony, war, poverty, and anything else that is less than.

It was Albert Einstein, who said, “We can never solve a problem, with the same consciousness that created it.”

How profound is that? Really! We can’t become free if we keep thinking of bondage; we can’t be abundant if we keep coming from lack. We can’t have peace, if we keep instilling fear.

How powerful would the human race be if everyone took 10 minutes of their day and sat in Peace, Love, Harmony, Freedom, and Abundance? How many wars could we end? How many hungry could we feed? We could obliterate poverty from this planet if we started looking at each other as expressions of love, peace, and harmony.

Too Pollyanna for you? Then just think about this way…how do you feel when someone lends you a hand without expecting anything in return? How do you feel when someone pays your bridge toll, buys you a cup of coffee, pays for dinner? Babysits your kids for free? Or helps you clean your house? These acts of servitude evokes within us Peace, Love, Happiness, and Gratitude right? Now apply that to everyone you meet; no matter race, religion, spiritual beliefs, political party, or sexual orientation; no matter what!

What if we decided to spend just one day of our lives in total gratitude and another in total servitude? How could war be sustained? Hunger would cease to exist and the world couldn’t stay the same state of disharmony.

Life is meant to be lived in its highest and best potential…no matter what the realization of that potential is. So at what point did we forget our capacity of being or becoming something greater?

Thank you for sticking around and reading my ramblings.

Oh and hey, did you know that takes fewer muscles in your face to smile than to frown?

Is Success a Coincidence or More Than That?

How often do we have great events occur in our lives only to chalk them up to coincidences or luck? We make excuses for the abundance that shows up in our lives and pander to the negative naysayers because we think it’s what society would want us to do. When will we come to realize, demonstrations ensue because we’ve stated or spoken our Word, and the Universe acted upon It?

We have the ability to be great, abundant, peaceful, educated, teachable, joy-filled, loving expressions of life. We contain the road map to inner peace, within our hearts; all we have to do is learn to read the legend. We must learn how to become still and listen; we must wake up to our potential and we must believe, embody, and come from Unconditional Love.

There is a Power greater than we are that knows what to do and how to do it. All we have to do is be open to accept It. When we begin to pay attention to the thoughts we think and the words that we utter, we start to see why our lives are the way they are. How many times a day are we saying, “I don’t have enough…” and add words like, money, time, or energy?” or we say, “I am,” and add something negative behind it. Or even, “I don’t know how I’m going to…” and follow it with something limiting? Let me just say right now, I believe there is more than enough for everyone. MORE THAN ENOUGH! There is plenty of time, money, resources, love, energy, joy, happiness and peace in this world!

It is time to wake up to the wonders of the Universe. If a sperm and an egg can unite and nine months later became you, then anything is possible! When life decided to express itself, it knew where to put our feet, eyes, fingers and brain. This viable energy knew what to do and how to do it! WE DIDN’T HAVE TO DO—ANYTHING! We didn’t have to think about it, we didn’t have to mingle or muck it up. We didn’t have to make it happen or try and figure out how it was going to be done. There was no conscious decision on our part; all we had to know was that life was being created.

It is the same in every aspect of our lives. We don’t need to know how something’s going to happen; we just need to know right and perfect action is taking place. We don’t go to the car mechanic and ask him how he fixed our car, we just know he did it and it works. We don’t go to an electrician and ask him to explain how electricity is harnessed and brought to our homes, he does his job and we benefit from his knowledge. Why is it any different with our lives?

I know there is a power greater than me that wants to give me the kingdom. It wants to express life through me so much it gives me whatever I ask for, whatever words tumble from my mouth and whatever thoughts roll around in my head.

Therefore, I can look at my life and see exactly what my focus has been. We all can…If I’m tired all the time; I need to stop bellyaching about being tired. If my finances are tight, I’ve gotta re-evaluate what my views are of the economy, my bank account or job situation? I have to ask myself, have I bought into the fear of lack? Have I fallen into the Pandora’s Box of…there isn’t enough to go around?

I know that when my thoughts are focused on the lack of anything in my life, it shows up. When my thinking or words are about anything less than—I can watch my world begin to dry up and close in around me. A vicious cycle begins and I play right into it. I stop giving, I stop helping, and I become this meager thinker about life. I begin to think about who has more, I question how they are able to afford such nice things, and I feel myself starting to resent people for being successful.

Well guess what? Prosperity begets prosperity; peace grows peace, love blooms love and so forth. The minute we stop and change our approach to life, life changes its approach to us. That’s how life works. So in learning that, now when I see someone who is successful, talented, bright, and filled with peace, I celebrate them. I don’t question how they did it; I don’t resent them for what they have or how they are doing. I genuinely celebrate them and wish them more success and happiness. Because I know what you put out into the world comes right back at you; YOU REAP WHAT YOU SOW. I know that I want my life to flourish with prosperity, peace, love, happiness and freedom.

With everything I am, I totally believe we can change our world and our lives by changing our thinking…one thought at a time!

Thanks for hanging out and reading my ramblings!

What is Our Purpose?

What is our purpose? Why are we doing…what it is that we’re doing? Is it a burning passion, a deep seeded obsession, maybe it’s a gripping vice, or as simple as a convenient habit? I’m not talking about what we do for a living, our jobs or hobbies…I’m talking about that unwavering intention we can’t seem to shake from our souls. No matter what happens around us, we can’t stop thinking about it; we can’t stop feeling the need to move toward the light of its discovery.

Whether it’s painting, writing, raising our children, or feeding the hungry, what motivates us to drag our battered bones across the finish line? Is it self-preservation or just plain ego? Or does it even matter?

We all come into this world as intention that grows within the womb of possibility. We are the ones that think the thoughts that birth the realities within our lives. It’s our swirling ideas that we allow to setup shop in our consciousness that creates our heavenly or hellish experience. It is the stories we cling to until our knuckles turn white or the superstitions we embody in order to keep people from knowing who we truly are, that create our bondage.

More times than not we’ve twisted conversations into “poor me-s” and “look at how bad I have it-s” in order to feel important, accepted, or empowered. We lost sight of our purpose before we even had a chance to realize we had the power to discover what our purpose was.

How fast the world would change if we came from the unconditional love within our hearts and true forgiveness when someone has forsaken us. Let’s face it, in order to love the world we must first love our place in it. We can’t embody peace if we are always walking around pissed off at the cat for scratching the couch or the kids for spilling red sport drinks on the cream carpet. We can’t come from happiness if we keep posting on the internet about someone who has hurt us. What stories are we fostering? What words and thoughts are we using to create our realities?

You see…in order for us to truly be free in this world, we must learn to live in freedom. In order to feel love we must come from love. We want closer friendships, so we must begin by being a close friend. Open our hearts and feel the greatness within every person we come across. If we need to change our financial situation—start by giving. Prosperity begets prosperous actions. Give first and all else shall be add upon you. Ask and you will receive, Seek and you shall find, knock and the door will opened.

The Universe is reciprocal; we see it in nature; the changing seasons, the rotation of the planets, and the life cycles of all living things. What goes around comes around in every aspect of existence. Whether we are talking man made experiences or natural phenomenon, life always finds a way to constantly produce. Purpose is the driving force in nature and everything has a purpose.

When we realize that there is something creative within us waiting for our discovery of it, life opens up and shows us the way. Unfortunately, most of us are too busy living in fear and listening to self-judgment. We are too caught up in believing we aren’t worthy or good enough. But once we move from that place of race consciousness or worldly beliefs, and we take a moment to silence our minds, we will realize our purpose has always been waiting patiently to be discovered.

Thanks for reading my ramblings…I am truly grateful for your visit!
